“A-weema-weh! A-weema-weh! A-weema-weh!”
“Craven, please!”
“What is it, Cadence?”
“You’ve been humming that stupid song all day.”
“And?”
“And, it’s annoying! Stop!”
“Sorry, sis. Just trying to pass the time.”
“This place looks familiar.”
“How can you tell? There’s nothing but overgrowth as far as the eye can see.”
“This used to be a mall, I think. The parking lot.”
“If you say so, Cade.”
“Wait, Crave! I see something!”
“Something like what?”
“Looks like a car, I think.”
“Where?”
“Over there, behind the trees.”
“Uh, sis, that looks weird, kind of creepy. I don’t know if we should…”
“Come on, Crave! We’ve been walking all day. It’s getting late, and we need to take shelter.”
“It’s just weird, Cade. The whole thing feels off, somehow.”
“Crave, what’s been normal since the plague?”
“A-weema-weh! A-weema-weh! A-weema-weh! A-weema-weh! In the jungle, the mighty jungle…”

Oh, now I’m going to have that song on my mind. LOL! Seems like the plague has changed a lot of things in their world. Great story!

That song popped into my head almost immediately when I saw the prompt. I had to incorporate it somehow to get out of my head.
Thanks for your kind words! I would love to try my hand at writing sci-fi one day. This story was my first attempt 🙂

The plague actually came back in 1994 at Surat India. Like your take on this one.
